Phricking Pharmacy

having children has meant not only do we get every sickness that passes thru north america, but we also have bought every over the counter medicine in stock. and here we are again, all of us sick.

seriously, i am an oxymoron. i'm a hypochondriac, afraid of getting sick or thinking i'm sick, and yet i never take medicine. i never even bought medicine. until i had kids...

we have a hall closet filled with meds for cough and cold, and fever and another fever reducer if necessary to rotate. and benedryl and nasal spray and a humidifier. and after little son's birthday 'sickness' turned out to be what the doctor thinks is 'constipation' i've got little rocket looking glycerin tablets. and all natural vitamin e rockets that didn't work. and don't forget the 5 kinds of band-aids and hydrogen peroxide and neosporin and the all natural emu oil husband just bought at the health food store for scars (the one little son has had between his eyes the past week). and then there's hydrocortison cream and anti-fungal cream and some other cream that has myrrh in it. then there's the wellness immune booster drops and the children's vitamins and the free sample of some medicine that was at little son's preschool. and i just looked and found the pedialite and desitin and i swear if i didn't have kids i would never have known what to do with all these meds in the first place...lock it up.

like i said, a phricking pharmacy.

Reminds me of my mom's medicine cabinet - she's got everything you could possibly imagine. I think its part of being a mom.

Ok, this blog is so perfect for my day today Amy. So agree with you on no drug taking until the kids came along. :-)

My oldest son jack's eardrum ruptured (thanks to picking up some nasty bacteria in the hotel pool he swam at on vacation - entirely different issue :-) and is on his very first antibiotics of his life and is on a rotating cocktail of ibuprofen and Tylenol every 3 hours for pain. My kid is a druggie and I am ok with it if it will help me GET SLEEP at night!

Never thought I would see the day that I am this thankful for drugs!!
